Company Founding
Colleagues and friends, Jerry Aldrich and Fred Hedman started the company out of Jerry’s garage in Bothell, WA.
1977
New HQ
Jerry and Fred purchased a church property located in Bothell, Washington for their growing company. We’re still in this location!
1985
Tice Ranch
Construction of the Pacific Institute Corporate Retreat in Twisp, Washington for owners Lou and Diane Tice is considered our first 'mega-project'.
1989
Health of Community
Burien's Three Tree Medical Arts Building was the first in the Western US to use crib retaining walls for planting vegetation and was a smoke-free jobsite six years before the anti-smoking law was enacted.
1997
Office Expansion
Aldrich was growing, and after 25 years, it was time for our home office to grow too. The renovation and addition almost doubled our space and gave new life to the building.
2005
A+ Legacy of Values
Dave Williams was 18 years old when he joined Aldrich in 1975, and 30 years later, he was promoted to General Superintendent. He retired in 2017 passing the baton to Matt Perhatch.
2006
New Leadership
Jonathan Fast and Jim Brink transitioned into ownership roles when Jerry retired. The years that follow are marked by signature projects and growth opportunities.

Largest Project
The Franciscan Medical Office Building and Garage at St. Joseph in Tacoma, Washington, remains one of our portfolio’s signature projects.
2017
Carrying the Safety Torch
After a decade as Superintendent, Matt's skills, experience, and leadership qualities earned him a promotion to General Superintendent and Safety Officer.
2019
3rd Generation Ownership
As CEO Jim Brink makes plans to retire, Principals George Ward is promoted to President, and Vice President John Schuh assumes leadership of Operations. </p>

Progressive Design-Build
UW Harborview Medical Center Hybrid Bi-plane OR awarded DBIA's Small Project of the Year and received a National Award of Merit in Healthcare Facilities.

CHI St. Joseph Medical Center NICU wins AGC Build Washington Award for Construction Excellence TI under $5M.

From the humble beginnings of a Bothell garage to building some of the most challenging and complex facilities for our region’s most prominent healthcare and science institutions, AldrichVKP has served the Pacific Northwest since 1972 as a full-service general contractor.
2022 marked our 50th year, and as we reflected on all that’s come before, we are proud of our project achievements, grateful for our partners in the built environment, and honored with our place in the industry as the premier general contractor for health and science facilities. Most importantly, we are thankful for the priceless contributions of our people — the A+ Team. As we look ahead, we see only the opportunity and inspiration of what the next 50 years and more may hold.
Beginning a new chapter in 2024, Aldrich + Associates, Inc. (Aldrich) and VK Powell Construction, LLC (VKP) out of Yakima, joined forces to better serve health and science organizations across Washington and the Greater Pacific Northwest. The firms reached a formal agreement in June 2024 and Aldrich’s acquisition of VKP was made final on December 16, 2024. The firm formally changed its name to AldrichVKP Construction Company.

Our leadership guides with our A+ values at the fore to deliver sophisticated high-quality projects with the best interests of our clients and colleagues always in mind. Principals George Ward, President, and John Schuh, Vice President, are the third generation of ownership. Project Executive Brendon Warme, General Superintendent and Safety Officer Matt Perhatch, Director of Preconstruction Nate Jensen, and Chief Financial Officer Brett Lantz round out the senior leadership team.
