An Invaluable Planning Tool
BIM eliminates field conflicts, maximizes efficiency, reduces cost + ensures schedule predictability
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a software technology that can bring value to our clients
During preconstruction, we use BIM to eliminate field conflicts between mechanical and electrical trade systems and to pre-plan logistics for complex site conditions or structural elements. This can eliminate costly re-work or stoppage of work in the field and increases labor efficiency while reducing field congestion through the prefabrication of assemblies.
Use of suitable technology through the design and construction process supports a predictable and reliable project outcome. We always assess the cost-benefit of investing in BIM for each project to ensure we are providing the best value to our clients.
For example, the BIM model and completed exterior photo (shown right) demonstrates how the project team on Seattle Children’s Hospital Hybrid Cath Lab/OR addition used BIM to coordinate with key trades. The digital 3D modeling program enabled teams to visualize the structural connections to the existing hospital and the path of MEP trade rough-in in a congested ceiling plenum space which optimized execution of construction and highest quality results.
