Built with Patients' + Staff's Well-Being in Mind

Aldrich's partnership with Northwest Kidney Center (NKC) spans decades. NKC set ambitious goals for the Rainier Beach project including high standards for sustainability and patient-centered design criteria. Aldrich supported NKC and the design team through multiple budget scenarios and constructability options to maximize value.

The 12,085-SF dialysis clinic was built entirely with patients' and staff's well-being in mind with connectivity to the natural environment. Stations are arranged in clusters of four to create a sense of community and face fully landscaped courtyards to promote healing and respite during dialysis treatments. A multitude of windows provide patients and staff access to nature and daylight. Fitted with the latest in dialysis treatment technology and equipped with an Aquaboss water treatment system for reverse osmosis dialysis, patients receive the best in quality care.

Achieving Certified LEED Silver, and keeping nature at the core of design resulted in a reduced environmental footprint, earning this project recognition as a 2021 AIA COTE Top Ten Award winner for sustainable design excellence, and the 2021 Healthcare Design Award from the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health.

Working with Aldrich was a fantastic experience. They kept the project on schedule, provided great communication and were active thought partners on resolving issues. As a project manager, I was very impressed with how they tracked and managed all of the various items and sub-contractors.
