Navigating Significant Site Constraints

This new flagship building for Northwest Kidney Centers entails three stories of medical over two levels of parking located on an incredibly complex site. The center provides 48 dialysis stations over two floors, conferencing/patient education room, and training spaces for patients who dialyze at home, with a vision to “de-medicalize” care with warm and welcoming environments that also improve workflows and maximize visibility.

The team collaboratively developed innovative approaches to navigating significant site constraints, including a steep slope; adjacent to Harborview Medical Center’s (HMC) loading dock and helipad, proximity to I-5, nearby construction projects, and limited street access.
